SH Novitate House Chanjody

Kottamury P.O. Changnaccherry, Kottyam District, Kerala, India – 686105

History

In 1980 Sacred Heart congregation started a novitiate house in Chanjody at the initiation and request of the then Vicar Rev. Fr. George Vellekkalam. We could secure landed property in a solitary location near the church which was most suited for establishing a novitiate house. The house was consecrated on 13th Junes 1980, the feast day of Sacred Heart by the Vicar General Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Parampath. The house imparts training to new sisters joining the congregation and also gives service to the parish in the fields of catechism, family clusters association, and house visits. As part of the social service activities of the congregation, the inmates of the house have organized Sevanikethan education sponsorship programme (SESP) helping students belonging to all casts in the locality. It provides social spiritual and mental educational training camps tours etc. to about 20 such students. The house organizes Aiswarya small savings scheme to promote savings habit in children.
